Andrew Shalat
Andrew Shalat is the author of Mac Design Out of the Box (Peachpit), CNET’s Do It Yourself Mac Projects (with Joli Ballew, on McGraw-Hill), and How To Do Everything with Online Video (McGraw-Hill). He is a designer, writer, author, and instructor. He is heard weekly on InsideMac Radio, giving graphic design tips and keeping listeners up to date on new design related technologies. He has been working as a graphic and commercial designer and a writer for over twenty years. He also teaches graphic design as an adjunct professor at Sessions.edu, an online design school, and Adjunct Professor of Digital Media Arts and Design at Orange Coast College.
He has an extensive background writing technology columns, (Shalat’s Web, on Macweek.com, Tech Talk on Start Magazine) feature articles (Macworld, Macworld UK, Creative Pro, Indesign Magazine, and more), reviews and such for both consumer and trade magazines, newsletters and blogs. He has been art director for several magazines (Digital Imaging, MicroPublishing News, more) and book publishers. Mr. Shalat holds a Master’s degree in Literature from Brandeis University, and a B.A. in English from SUNY Stony Brook. He has lectured and given instructional seminars on diverse subjects as Digital Imaging, Shakespeare, Rhetoric, Business Writing, Advanced Web Design, Architectural criticism, and doing your homework in a timely fashion (the last of these was a very focused audience consisting of his two teenaged boys). Mr. Shalat lives in Los Angeles, if you can call that living.
