Wonder Warp Software has released ShoveBox, an application for Mac OS X that helps users manage all the tiny scraps of information they encounter that have no real place.
Billed as a "smart clutter-catcher," it appears as an icon in the menubar where users can drag text, images, urls, and pdfs. Dragged data goes into a special 'Inbox' folder or can instead be automatically sorted by user-defined rules in a manner not unlike an email client.
"There are so many apps on the Mac that try this and fail," says developer Dan Grover, "They require way too much thinking. For me at least. I wanted to create an app that's powerful but as out-of-the-way as it could possibly get. The thing doesn't even have a dock icon!"
One feature towards this end is QuickJot -- a simpler hotkey-activated interface to the ShoveBox. It lets the user, without leaving the program they're in, enter plain text to be sent to ShoveBox and processed.
The application also provides an interface to organize, search, label, and export the data stored in it.
ShoveBox is available for download and free trial at http://www.wonderwarp.com/shovebox/. It costs $24.95 USD for a single-user license. Multi-user discounts are available.
Wonder Warp Software SP is a small independent Mac software vendor already known for its popular music software SimpleChord and puzzle game Otis. Wonder Warp was founded in 2004 and is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
